Fr. Michael writes: ”Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains but a single grain, but if it dies it yields a rich harvest. Anyone who loves his life loses it; anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it for the eternal life.” Jesus reveals the secret of His own life and the key to living the Christian life. However strange it seems, however opposed to the ways of the world, it is through dying to self and in giving for love of others that we find life and our true selves. It’s something we’re so often afraid to try. We are afraid of the unknown, we’re unwilling to give too much of what we have, of who we are. But to clinging to what we have, we fail to grow. Lord Jesus, as we enter into your Passion, Crucifixion and Resurrection show us the way that leads to life in all its fullness.5th Sunday of Lent
